Sponge Cake: These cakes are known
for their lightness and spongy texture,
which allows them to absorb and retain sugar
syrup. We make our fresh sponge from scratch
every day and although our recipe is a secret,
you can be sure of the perfect combination
of the above factors, creating the ideal
substitute to the denser, fruity nature
of rich fruitcake. Our sponge is layered
generously with any of a variety of delicate
fillings. The cake itself can be vanilla,
chocolate, strawberry, mocha, lemon caramel,
or anything else you might want. Royal icing
and marzipan are not as light but more durable
and equally delicious as our famous soft
cream.
Rich Fruit Cake: This cake is a feast
of flavours for the taste buds and is more
dense and filling than sponge. It also lasts
much longer, and it is traditional for the
top tier of a wedding cake to be saved for
the first anniversary. Our fabulous rich
fruit cake is noted for its delicate mix
of spices, wide range of dried fruits and
dates, as well as zesty orange peel and
ginger. Rich fruit cake can come in varying
intensities of the rum taste - mild, rich,
and very rich. Rich fruit suits any topping,
but especially royal icing and marzipan.
Other Cake Types: Euro Delice has
experience with wedding cakes of every kind
-carrot cake, Madeira cake, etc. Our chefs
are very experienced and will produce the
cake you want.
Fillings:
Fruit & Cream: Fruits include,
strawberry, cherry, black/red current, apple,
pear, pineapple, peach, or fruit mixes.
Certain combinations of fruit do not go
well with certain flavours of sponge - ask
for details (for sponge cake).
Jam or Cream & Jam: adds a deliciously
sweet hint of fruit (for sponge cake).
Soft Cream: There are many varieties;
vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, mocha, lemon
caramel, or anything else you might want
(for sponge cake).
Toppings:
Royal Icing: Comes with or without
marzipan. This icing, as is mane suggests,
is very fine. Not only does it melt wonderfully
in the mouth and give cakes a marvellous
sculpted look, it also lasts for a very
long time, and thus is used for the top
tier of wedding cakes which are stored for
the first anniversary.
Soft Cream: Soft cream icing is
very much what it sounds like -a delicate
creamy icing which allows for softer finishes
and compliments sponge cake well. All our
sponge cakes are layered with plentiful
soft cream if you with it.
Marzipan: Marzipan, an almond paste,
is marvellous as a topping on its own or
with Royal icing (most common). It is especially
suited to rich fruitcakes.
Fresh Fruit:
Fresh fruit, for example strawberries, adds
colour and variety to your wedding cake.
The choice of fruit is very much up to your
design.
